• Hi BVEC Parents and Students!

I hope that this message finds you healthy, happy and safe.  Although I understand this is a time of much uncertainly and the feelings of being overwhelmed are present for many of us, I also know it is a great time to spend time with family and practice Social Emotional learning activities together.

Social Emotional Learning (often referred to as SEL) is a process children, and adults, learn and apply to their own skills and values in order to regulate emotions, set positive goals, show and feel empathy for others, have positive relationships and make good decisions.

I have provided 10 different SEL activities for both Kindergarten through 2nd and also 3rd thru 6th in the links to these below. Each PowerPoint provides 10 different activities that can be done both individually or as a family.

In addition to these activities, I have also included files that have some additional activities and print outs that can be used with all grade levels.  One file also has information for families that covers the topics of explaining the Coronavirus to children, calming activities and mental health first aid.   I will continue to update these lists as I find additional resources.

I hope you find this information useful and you are able to find time to do some of the activities listed. They are not meant to be stressful or a challenge, instead a nice change from the day to day routine and a way to provide a "mental break" for our students.

If you need to contact me, please feel free to email me at mdorsch@bvsd.k12.pa.us. You can also continue to call the school and my extension is 437. I will receive your message and get back to you as soon as possible.

Stay safe and healthy and take care of each other -
