• CHILDFIND

    What is it?

Child Find is a mandatory component of the IDEA law for students thought to be in need of special services.  Child Find monitors the progress of all students and recognizes those students that are demonstrating academic, behavioral, and/or social/emotional difficulties.

Child Find at Blacklick Valley Junior-Senior High School is a multi-faceted process that includes three different programs available to students.  They are as follows:  the Student Assistance Program (SAP), the MTSS program, and the Active Child Find Program.  If, after being monitored by the Child Find Team, a student presents him/herself with a need for specific interventions, the team determines which program would appropriately address the student’s needs.  Following obtaining parent permissions, a referral is made to one of the three programs to initiate interventions for the student.
